Feeding a film crew at 5am

Our first film job was a six-week shoot in the Catskills. We learned more about breakfast in those six weeks than in the ten years before.

Work back from call time

If call is 6am, the hatch opens at 5. That means the truck is parked and the urns are hot by 4. We read the call sheet the night before and plan around it, not the other way round.

Hot food, every day

Egg rolls, oatmeal with proper toppings, and one hot special that changes daily. A crew that eats well at 5am is a crew that does not stop for snacks at 9.

The coffee urn is never optional

It goes up first and comes down last. Two urns for every fifty people, and someone whose only job is keeping them full.
